A striking contemporary tartan design by Edinburgh College of Art<\/a> student Megan Atkinson was the standout piece at Exhibition: Coordinated, a successful fashion showcase at Multrees Walk that celebrated the creativity, craftsmanship and future talent of Scotland\u2019s next generation of designers.<\/p>\n

Held at Genesis Studio<\/a> Edinburgh on Multrees Walk, the exhibition featured 10 selected final designs from an original cohort of 23 second-year fashion students, each chosen to represent the strength and originality of the students\u2019 work. Leading the showcase was Megan\u2019s design, Inscribed in Tartan\u00a0\u2014 a contemporary reinterpretation of her own family tartan, inspired by the heritage of the Scottish kilt and reshaped into a refined, feminine silhouette.<\/p>\n

The event marked the culmination of a collaboration between Multrees Walk and Edinburgh College of Art (ECA), which saw students mentored and supported by leading retailers including Harvey Nichols and Johnstons of Elgin.<\/p>\n

Throughout the project, students were tasked to create commercially minded co-ord garments that balanced innovation with sustainability, customer profiling and commercial viability.<\/p>\n

Professor Mal James, Programme Director and Personal Chair of Fashion Design, BA (Hons) Fashion at Edinburgh College of Art, said<\/p>\n

\u201cHaving our students\u2019 designs exhibited within Multrees Walk was a hugely rewarding opportunity. To see their ideas showcased in the city\u2019s luxury fashion district, alongside some of the world\u2019s leading brands, was a powerful celebration of their hard work, talent and creativity.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dr Patricia Wu, Year 2 Fashion Lecturer and academic project lead, added:<\/p>\n

\u201cThis collaboration gave students invaluable experience in understanding the relationship between designers and real-world customers. It encouraged them to consider consumer needs while expressing their own unique design identities.\u201d<\/p>\n

Leigh Aitchison, Centre Manager at Multrees Walk, said:<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were truly impressed and inspired by the students\u2019 creativity, their passion for research and the originality they brought to their final designs. It was fantastic to celebrate their achievements through this exhibition.\u201d<\/p>\n

Adam Stone, Head of European Retail Leasing Strategy at Nuveen, added:<\/p>\n

\u201cThis collaboration reflects our vision for Multrees Walk as a place that champions creativity, innovation and future talent. We were delighted to showcase these students\u2019 designs in such an exciting exhibition.\u201d<\/p>\n
